About MegaPhone Labs
MegaPhone Labs enables realtime interaction between audiences and screens using simple phone calls, mobile websites and mobile applications. We believe that phones are the most ubiquitous and flexible controllers for many types of media interaction.
Everyone has a phone, and everyone knows how to make a phone call. MegaPhone Labs’ platform receives calls and translates keys presses into control commands, which can be used to do a lot of interesting things.
From gaming in stadiums and other public spaces, to realtime social TV experiences, if you can make a call, you can interact.
MegaPhone Labs also extends outside our office walls. We are home to an active developer community. Using our SDK, content creators and brands can create real-time, social, interactive video content on any screen, in any household, anywhere.
History
MegaPhone Labs was originally developed by Jury Hahn and Chris Kairalla at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU, and was founded as a business in the Fall of 2007 by Jury Hahn and Dan Albritton.
As of the Spring of 2011, the MegaPhone Platform is in use in 43 professional sports arenas in the US and Canada for the NFL, NHL, NBA, and MLB.
While the MegaPhone Platform was primarily used to power out of home gaming, it has grown well beyond that single use, and is also currently deployed on television in broadcast and cable as well.
Additionally, the free MegaPhone Platform SDK is in use by hundreds of independent developers worldwide.
…and we’re just getting started.
